The Tom Burnett Golf Academy has taken the lead in teaching and training junior golfers. Under the watchful eye of Academy Instructors, students have gone on to compete in and capture numerous state, regional, and national titles. The Academy has designed a specialized instruction program for those youngsters who have clearly demonstrated above average abilities in the game of golf. Whether a young player is trying to make their high school team, get recruited by a college, or turn professional early, our methods speed up the process while engraining the proper techniques, habits, and process needed to sustain a strong level of play.
Each student will learn the proper mechanics of a golf swing through gaining an understanding of the full swing and various short game techniques. The technical aspects of the swing are outlined in, "The ABC'S of Golf" developed and written by Tom Burnett. These technical skills are then developed through the use of high speed video and computer analysis, drills, and games. A number of specialized training aids and advanced technologies are also employed by the staff to assist in their players' learning process.
The Academic Year Full Time Program is an intense, structured 5-day program offered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Students will receive both range, short game, and on-course instruction. They will receive golf-specific physical training three times per week, and continuous mental training throughout the week.
The goal here is to get our juniors coachable within the first year, and prepare them to reach summer tournament goals. Our coaches travel with the players to 11 nationally ranked events during the year as this is a crucial part for the coaches to track a players progress.
The Academic Year Part Time Program is a structured 2-day program offered every Thursday and Friday afternoon. The curriculum will be divided between the practice facility and on-course instruction. Students will receive information, and be encouraged to engage in golf-specific physical and mental training activities.
